NOWhere or in the middle of the ocean
15/11 > 21/11/2018
What meaning have the tropical islands? And the artificial islands? What they represent in the collective imaginary?
NOWhere or in the middle of the ocean is an exhibition that explores the post-humanist-tropical imaginary through the study of projects of artificial islands and beaches: floating hotels, military bases, islands in a sale, floating cities, videos of paradise beaches. That’s a fan of projections that Juan David Galindo uses to explore the thin line that divides utopia and dystopia and the relation between the dreams and the material conditions of existence.
He was also part of the workshop and exhibition “Interventions series” from November 19th in Cultural center Magacin, Kraljevića Marka 4, Belgrade. It is a group of artists with different approaches and methods, from in Serbia, France, and Colombia. The need for experimenting and reconsidering different aspects of artwork in relation to spatial context is what brings together this informal group of artists, as well as their communicative, active relation to colleagues and spectators.
