Adrián Bracho (Mexico City, 1987)
Artist, creator, sounder.
His work revolves around the interaction between the imagination and the audible/visible context that surrounds him. He is interested in rescuing forgotten objects and ideas to give them a new life and reflect on the capitalist waste culture and programmed obsolescence. His oeuvre includes acoustic and electroacoustic music, music for film, imaginary projects, sound installation, and sounding images. His work has been presented in Mexico, Germany, Serbia, and Switzerland.
Al otro lado del hilo is a sound installation that seeks to create a link to the sounds around us that we never hear. It is about taking a moment to feel and listen. To remember ancient ways of communication where two people were physically connected by a string and two cups. Nowadays, we are able to communicate instantly with thousands of people we don’t necessarily know. At the same time, we are becoming more isolated from our environment, from all the sounds and images that are real. This work is an attempt to break that isolation, to connect you with real sounds and make you wonder: What is there, on the other side of the string?
