ARTIST RESIDENCY IN BARCELONA, SPAIN

at HOMESESSION

Belgrade Artist in Residence invites artists to apply for a two-month artist residency in Barcelona, Spain during July and August of 2019.

This artist-in-residence program is a newly designed, artist exchange program between  Belgrade Artist in Residence and Homesession in Barcelona, Spain. The goal of this collaboration is to increase awareness, visibility, and artistic growth for both Serbian and Spanish artists.

This is a juried application process. Jurors are: Olivier Collet, Homesession; Rachel Klipa, Office of Public Art, Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Danilo Pioli, Homesession; Gordana Žikić, Belgrade Artist in Residence.

One artist will be selected to spend two months at Homesession.

Deadline for application is: April 30, 2018 @ 23:59.

Only the successful applicant will be notified via e-mail by, May 20, 2018.

Application Requirements:

  1. Please send up to 10 images

  2. Letter of intent (600 word limit)

  3. Artist Statement

  4. CV or resume (limit is 1-2 pages)

  5. Appropriate links to websites, videos, projects, etc.

  6. Applications must be submitted in English

All of these documents should be prepared in a single PDF; size limit is 5MB.

  • Artists must be currently living in Serbia, and must be a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, to apply.

  • Working level of English is required.

  • Artist is responsible for travel and living expenses.

  • The selected artist will receive free accommodation and a production budget of 300 euros.

  • The artist will have the choice to organize an exhibition or have a presentation.

Homesession endeavors to complement the work of the institutions in Barcelona’s art scene. It provides a home for proposals that are daring and innovative in their content, as much as in their format and aesthetics, making room for the unexpected.

Our proposal establishes an artist residency in Barcelona dedicated to international artists, offering the opportunity for a unique, creative experience in Catalonia. Belgrade Artist in Residence Program Assistant Internship

Belgrade Artist in Residence (BAIR) is a program that is part of Center424, a nonprofit artist-run organization that supports artists, curators, and martial artists via one week to three month residencies taking place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The program aims to foster cultural exchange between artists from different disciplines by encouraging dialogue and collaboration.

BAIR was founded in 2012, and has since hosted various artists from all over the world. Moreover, the program established artist residencies and exchange programs in Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, Sweden, and also with Homesession in Barcelona, Spain.

BAIR is a member of ResArtis and TransArtists, both of which are networks that promote worldwide residencies.

Our residency program seeks a remote assistant and an on-site assistant for a period of two months or longer. The assistants will be experimental, creative, collaborative, and have a passion for contemporary art. The ideal candidates will also be able to work with a diverse community and have excellent communication skills. English language skills are required for both positions. Desired interns can be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in arts management, art history, studio art, or the equivalent.

Responsibilities for the remote assistant include but are not limited to:
Research and assist in applying to funding opportunities.
Manage the residency’s social media and update the website as required.
Develop marketing strategies.
Correspond with colleagues in a collegial and professional manner.
Collaborate with staff on projects.

Responsibilities for the on-site assistant include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development and management of the artist residency program.
Research possible collaborations or program development.
Serve as the liaison for resident artists, curators, and local artists.
Plan and organize events.
Research and assist in applying to funding opportunities.
Collaborate with staff on projects.
Facilitate the organization of workshops, studio, gallery and museum visits.

These are unpaid positions. BAIR can work with participants to receive academic credit for their work. Accommodation costs can be discussed with potential interns for the on-site assistant. Only qualified candidates will be contacted by November 10, 2018.

Open Call Exchange Residency in Belgrade (Serbia) for the Spanish artist

Homesession launches a call directed to Catalan artists (or residents in Catalonia) for the realization of an artistic residence in Belgrade Air Project, Belgrade (Serbia)

The call is part of an exchange between Belgrade Air Project   and Homesession and aims to promote the mobility of artists and promote knowledge and interaction between the agents of the artistic sector of both contexts. This new Homesession exchange program started in 2018 with the residency in Barcelona of the Serbian artist Stanko Gagrčin during March and April 2018.
