Future City Inflatable is an imaginary architecture of the future. Erected in the past as a fantasy of tomorrow’s possible worlds – unbuilt, utopian environments are resurrected and transformed by dance, here and now.
Drawing on the visionary speculations for collective futures by radical, futurist architects of the 1960s, the dance moves performers and visitors through a hypothetical superstructure that reimagines the present and questions what kind of future we can form together.
As we hurtle ahead at an increasingly rapid pace, Future City Inflatable looks and moves backward, in order to go forward differently. This is a future city – inflatable yet compressed – a shifting portrait of phantom utopias, dystopic realities, and surrogate future.
